The Most Average Burger You Have Ever Eaten Has Kept Local Restaurant Running For Decades
BLANCO – Blanco Burger Co. celebrated its 25-year anniversary yesterday by serving its signature burger, The Blanco, for free all day with the purchase of fries and a drink, handing out a record 1000 burgers. When asked what his secret is to running a successful restaurant for a quarter of a century, owner Rick Owens said that he attributes the longevity and success of his burger joint to serving the most average burger that you have ever eaten.
“The Blanco isn’t much but it’s honest work. Some people know that it’s average and don’t come back but others for some reason think it’s the best burger they ever ate. My business thrives off of customers like that.”
Owens invited our reporters into the kitchen to boast about just how average his signature burger is. Cooked on a classic flattop and served all the way with mayo on a white bun with LTPO and American cheese on top, our reporters had to agree with Owens that The Blanco really is just an average cheeseburger.
“A burger is just a burger until all of a sudden it isn’t, and it’s that subjectivity that has been making me a fortune 25 years running.”
