Commuter Finds Comfort In The Fact That Even Beyonce Isn’t Above LA Traffic
LOS ANGELES – With no intention of watching the Grammy’s, Ronald Haskins was on his commute back home from work when, to his great surprise, he saw Beyoncé Knowles in his rearview mirror, stuck in the same traffic jam as he was.
“At first, I was like ‘holy shit, that’s Beyoncé.’ And then, I got to thinking: this world-famous celebrity is stuck in traffic just like me. I don’t know man, something about that brought a smile to my face because even Beyoncé isn’t above traffic.”
At that same moment, the singer-songwriter had just been awarded a Grammy for her song “Cuff It", voted the best R&B song and putting her in a tie for the most Grammys won. Beyoncé was not there to accept her award until a half hour later, and in her acceptance speech, mentioned that she was late because “the driver in front of her was driving as if nothing mattered, and [he] kept smiling at me thru the mirror.”
By press time, Beyoncé went on to break the record for most Grammys won, and Viola Davis achieved EGOT status, winning the final Grammy to add to her Emmy Oscar, and Tony awards, for the audiobook version of her memoir, Finding Me. However, Davis was able to accept her award on time in person because, unlike Beyonce, she left 8 hours early for the event like a normal person.
