George Santos and Kevin McCarthy in Competition for Who Can Have the Worst Week of Their Lives on the US Congress Floor
WASHINGTON –All eyes are on congressman-elect George Santos and Rep. Kevin McCarthy on the House floor this week as both men try to outdo each other in a competition for who can have the worst week in their political careers.
George Santos R-NY made his very first appearance on the House floor to cast his vote for Speaker yesterday, playing it like a college student walking into their first class of the semester – sitting alone on his phone mindlessly scrolling to avoid human interaction. This is ironic considering that Santos has admitted to “embellishing his resume” during his campaign and has been found to have not attended university at all.
Rep. Kevin McCarthy R-CA is doing his best to not be outdone by Santos and lost his fifth-round ballot for Speaker of the House today, the first time in a hundred years that the House has had to hold multiple speaker votes. McCarthy has made several concessions in order to attain the votes needed to win the ballot, including making it easier for congressmen to contest his position and excluding getting down on both knees – for now.
No one on the House floor has talked to George Santos in two days, Kevin McCarthy is very close to sweating through his 10th shirt, and with a sixth round of voting underway, the race is still ongoing for which congressman will have the worst week of their lives.
