Soccer Dad Says He Wants To Be Just Like Gio Reyna’s Parents When His Kid Grows Up

DALLAS – The feud between USMNT Head Coach Greg Berhalter and the parents of midfielder Gio Reyna reached its peak this week when the Reyna’s threatened to report an abuse allegation against Berhalter for an incident that occurred in 1991 in retaliation for their son’s limited playing time during the FIFA World Cup.

Although sources within the soccer community have questioned this move by the Reyna’s, one soccer dad has shown an outpour of support for them on social media, calling them his “personal heroes.”

“When they went after that man’s reputation like that, just because he didn’t play their son as much as they thought he should’ve, that brought a tear to my eye,” tweeted @BigDaddyMike, whose real name is Mike Hawkins, the father of two young boys who aren’t even old enough to play for a team yet.

Hawkins has tweeted that he has been attending several little league games in preparation for when his boys start playing. Parents told reporters that Hawkins has been kicked out of several of their kids’ little league games and has even been arrested once for assault on an assistant coach whom, according to the police report, he accused of favoritism.

When asked by a concerned follower as to why he attends these games, Hawkins responded, “I’m just trying to get in as many reps as I can so that I can one day be ‘that jackass parent’ on the sidelines.”
