President Biden Makes First Visit To Southern Border To Attend North American Leaders’ Summit
EL PASO – Biden made his first visit as president to the US-Mexico border yesterday and is in Mexico for the first time since the Obama Administration to attend the North American Leaders’ Summit.
“The last time that I saw Mexico, I was sitting on my couch in the White House watching the final season of Better Call Saul,” said the President in a Jan. 5th speech and noted yesterday that the country isn’t as yellow as he remembered it being.
Biden’s visit to the border comes after two years of back-and-forth between Republicans and Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, who has been sending buses carrying migrants back and forth from the border to Washington. “I’m here to show Brandon that Mexico is a lot more than just Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, the real-life Border Patrol isn’t nearly as entertaining,” said Abbott in a speech on Sunday.
Biden will meet with Canada’s Justin Trudeau and Mexico’s Andrés Manuel López Obrador to discuss climate policy, trade, immigration, as well as a whole lot of gossip.
