The Cure To Male Loneliness Is Winning the Mega Millions Lottery, Researcher Says
TEXAS – Is there an inverse relationship between winning the lottery and male loneliness? One college professor says that their research proves just that.
Dr. Richard Goodfellow, a research professor at the University of Texas at Austin School of Psychology, has been studying male loneliness ever since it was declared an ‘epidemic’ by US Surgeon General Vivek Murthy, who says that the problem has deepened since the beginning of the pandemic.
His research has involved interviewing and studying male subjects who have purchased lottery tickets for the recent Mega Million Jackpot Lottery in Texas, which is estimated to be $1.35 billion, the second largest jackpot for the multistate lottery.
Although there has yet to be a winner, Dr. Goodfellow says that his findings have been remarkable.
“Specifically, there was a significant improvement in male subjects’ outlook on life after purchasing a Mega Million lottery ticket with subjects experiencing more hope when they purchased more than 5 rows of numbers,” said Dr. Goodfellow. “The more numbers one has, the higher perceived chance of winning, thus, we see a decrease in feelings of loneliness.”
Dr. Goodfellow’s research suggests that the mere hope of winning the lottery can significantly curb loneliness in male subjects and in turn, he says that actually winning the lottery would cure the loneliness entirely.
“We can only hope that the winner of this lottery will be a man who is lonely and who desperately needs a win.”
The next lottery drawing will be tonight at 11 PM ET.
